Juan Luis Salinas is a member of the Telescope team with a background across politics, international development, and public policy.
Juan Luis recently completed his Master in Public Policy at Yale’s Jackson School of Global Affairs, where he focused on the intersection of policy and politics in driving positive change. During graduate school, he interned on the presidential campaign of Uruguay’s new president, Yamandú Orsi. Previously, he worked for the Liberal Party of Canada in coordinating Federal Ministers’ involvement in political events and fundraising, and earlier founded a political consultancy firm in Peru that led successful congressional races. He also spent three years as an economic development consultant, working with small and Indigenous producers in Peru, Ecuador, and Brazil to strengthen commercial strategies and promote sustainable growth. His government experience includes roles with Peru’s Prime Minister’s Office for Reconstruction and the Ministry of Industry, where he helped design the “Your Company” national policy, formalizing over 9,000 SMEs.
Originally from Peru, Juan Luis holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Universidad del Pacífico and a master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, where he graduated first in his class. Outside of work, he enjoys playing guitar and passionately following his soccer team.
